Trials Agronomist

Based at either of our sites in Shropshire and Norfolk, we are looking for a Trials Agronomist to assist with managing and monitoring potato variety, crop protection and other trials projects aimed at improving tuber yield, quality and the sustainability of potato production. This role includes collection and collation of reliable data, analysis and reporting and supporting the wider Produce Solutions team.

Main Responsibilities
  • Trial protocol organisation and set-up onto IT systems ahead of planting
  • Procurement of seed from breeders and pesticide treatments from agrochemical manufacturers
  • Defect analysis of procured seed, organisation and coordination of effective seed planting
  • Spray applications to plots pre-emergence and pre-senescence
  • In-season trial monitoring and assessments
  • Harvest of potato trials with post-harvest assessments in store, grading and yield and defect analysis of tubers
  • Data analysis and reporting




Key Attributes
  • The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm and drive to want to develop themselves within the potato supply sector
  • Have a degree in an agricultural science with an interest in trials and data management
  • Ability to use data effectively to drive decision making
  • The ability to problem solve in a pressurised environment and work flexibly, both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programmes
  • Due to the nature of this role a full driving licence is required, a company vehicle will be supplied.
