At the heart of our business
Operations is a key function within the Produce Investments group and at the heart of ensuring that we supply our customers with the highest quality fresh potatoes, daffodil bulbs and cut daffodils.
Within operations, we have a number of departments which you could have the opportunity to work in including; intake, grading, washlines, quality control, packing and despatch. As well as being responsible for high quality finished goods, the role of operations is also to ensure that we are producing fresh potatoes as efficiently as possible.

Providing a crucial service to our sites
Our team of engineers play a crucial role ensuring that our production lines are all working at optimum levels.
It is crucial that our sites are working to the best of their ability as our business runs around the clock 364 days per year and performance and output must be maximised. The engineering team are responsible for preventative solutions as well as being responsive to any immediate breakdowns around the sites.
As an engineer it’s not just about maintenance of existing equipment. Our engineers are also involved with recommending new technology to improve the sites performance and delivering high impact new installations.

Our people are our focus
Our HR team is responsible for over 700 employees across all of our UK sites and are involved with all aspects of recruitment and selection, learning and development, remuneration and benefits, health and safety and employee relations and rights.
The team has a varied role working across many different locations and with many different teams.

Teams with a big remit
Within Produce Investments, the procurement and growing teams have a big remit.
Our Greenvale own growing business is the largest grower of fresh potatoes in the UK growing around 1200ha per annum. The team is responsible for all aspects of the growing and production cycles.
Our procurement team also work closely with our extensive grower base to deliver additional crop for our customers across the retail, wholesale and processing sectors. With many challenges to potato growing our procurement team need to be able to align customer demands with crop availability and that can be up to a year in advance.

Ensuring the best possible products
Our technical and quality assurance teams are involved with potato production at every stage of the process from planting to the moment that a bag leaves our packing facilities.
The technical team manage a huge amount of technical and scientific data with the end aim of ensuring that only the best possible crop makes it onto a retailer's shelf, wholesaler's bag or into a processed product.

Working on our environmental impact
Our environmental strategy is integral to the way in which we run our businesses.
We are environmentally proactive and innovative and our forward thinking has won many awards. This is currently represented by our ISO 14001 certified Group Environmental Policy and Management System, coupled with our environmental strategy Green 20.
We have dedicated environmental roles that oversee and develop the group and its company’s strategy in this area.
The environment is everyone's responsibility and it features within everyone's role within the company.

Our finance teams have skills in many areas providing a range of services across the business working with all departments and helping to guide our strategic direction.
Finance aren’t just involved with budgeting and forecasting, they are an integral part of the company analysing information and making informed financial decisions on behalf of the business.

Seasonal workers are the heart of our business
We employ up to 1,500 seasonal workers each year at our Cornwall site.
Work includes:
- Hand-harvesting daffodils
- Picking bulbs (piece work)
- Cleaning bulbs (removing stones and soil)
- Grading bulbs (sorting by size and removing damaged bulbs)
- Harvesting bulbs / potatoes
- Packing bulbs / potatoes
- Field and glasshouse work
- General farm tasks
- We offer accommodation to all of our seasonal workers

Our IT department has a huge remit being responsible for all of the technology that links the sites and our customers and suppliers.
IT deliver state of the art systems to enable the business to operate in a streamlined manner using the latest processes. Our business is complex and technology needs to keep up to date to deliver solutions that work and deal with evolving challenges. The IT team are at the forefront of managing changing technology and delivering new solutions.

Delivering growth for us and our customers
Business development & commercial
The commercial team is responsible for delivering growth for Produce Investments and for our customers in both the retail and non retail channels. The team is the key liaison point for our customers and responsible for delivering sales driving initiatives. Responsibilities range from delivering new products to market to promotional strategies to involvement with range reviews and spans across all departments of the business.
Marketing
The marketing team works closely with the commercial team and suppliers to deliver consumer driving activities that enhance sales performance. The team also covers category insights using the latest tools available to deliver analysis for our customers and to ensure that we know where the category trends are heading. As well as striving to deliver growth of fresh potatoes, marketing is also responsible for the marketing of the Produce Investments business itself through PR and other initiatives.
