Procurement Assistant

Greenvale AP is one of the UK’s largest growers and packers of fresh potatoes, supplying some of the country’s largest retailers and processors from our 2 packing sites in Cambridgeshire (March) and the Scottish Borders (Duns). We are looking to recruit a Procurement Assistant to support all potato procurement operations at our Duns site.

  • Location: Duns
  • Reporting to: Procurement Manager
  • Salary: Competitive with benefits
  • Hours of work: Monday - Friday, 08:30-17:00hrs
Main Responsibilities:
  • Planning and communicating the weekly intake for the Packhouse.
  • Compiling and maintaining a stock database for all contracted raw material.
  • Ensuring grower contract volumes are up to date in line with available stock.
  • Organising store sampling and wash-ups for key stocks.
  • Conducting seasonal test-digs and recording results.
  • Assessing stock quality and waste in production whilst providing feedback to growers.
  • Helping growers maintain technical supply compliance.
  • Actively seeking buying and trading opportunities.
Our ideal candidate will have the following:
  • An agricultural/land-based qualification. 
  • A willingness to learn and assume greater responsibility – and the benefits that come with this. 
  • Previous experience of working with potatoes or other field crops is desirable but not essential.  
  • A knowledge of the farming community and a connection with rural affairs. 
  • The ability to plan and execute your own working week whilst working either on your own or as part of a larger team. 
  • Good organisation, communication and computer skills are required. 
  • A valid driver’s licence. 
  • A willingness to learn.
