Potato Agronomist

Produce Solutions, part of Greenvale AP, is a team of potato agronomists and trials specialists, working across all the major potato growing regions of GB providing agronomy, technical support and commercial trials for all aspects of potato production. We provide strategic support to growers; using our experience and knowledge of potato agronomy and the current potato market to assist growers and help them create a strategy for their potato enterprise that best utilises their resources and capabilities. Our team often work alongside a customer’s existing agronomy resource, providing the additional specialist potato knowledge that today’s potato markets require. We are looking to recruit an experienced Agronomist to support our team in East Anglia. BASIS and ideally FACTS qualified, they will already have a good knowledge of potato production practices and UK supply chains. They will play a key role in supporting Greenvale’s fresh and processing potato supply into major customers and in delivering the very best agronomy advice to growers. They will also support our extensive program of commercial trials.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Close co-operation and liaison with all Greenvale teams, and Produce Solutions colleagues, to ensure objectives are met
  • Involvement with a diverse range of potato crops, growing systems and trials
  • Supporting Greenvale’s own-growing enterprise in Norfolk
  • Provision of fee-paying agronomy consultancy services to growers
  • Identifying commercial opportunities with new growers – agronomy, seed sales, trading opportunities and DeCyst trap crops
Key Attributes
  • Possess a strong technical aptitude with sound knowledge and experience of potato production and agronomy 
  • Ability to analyse, and use crop intelligence data effectively to drive decision making
  • BASIS and ideally, FACTS qualified
  • Have the ability to problem solve in a pressurised environment and work flexibly, both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programmes
  • Full driving licence
