Quality Inspector

Greenvale AP is one of the UK’s largest growers and packers of fresh potatoes, supplying some of the country’s largest retailers and processors from our 2 production facilities. Our Floods Ferry site based in March, Cambridgeshire is looking for a Quality Inspector within its Technical Department. This role includes ensuring raw material is suitable to meet customer specification at all times through in-depth assessments.

  • Location: March
  • Reporting to: Site Crop Advisor
  • Salary: £12.13 per hour
  • Hours of work: Monday-Friday, Day Shift, 08:30am-17:00pm
Main Responsibilities:
  • Recording Quality information including photographs where necessary and communicating to relevant personnel
  • Carrying out in-depth assessments on raw material to ascertain defect levels, size split etc. whilst following the Risk Assessment Calendar protocol
  • Undertaking pre-sampling assessments, wash-ups, field samples and crop intelligence data
  • Preparing appropriate samples as requested
  • Communicating quality issues with other internal departments, ensuring action is taken quickly
  • Monitoring product shelf-life, quality, trials, cook test and document accordingly
  • Conducting all aspects of QA, hot box assessments, shelf-life and pre-sampling
Key Skills and Attributes:
  • Knowledge of customer requirements and quality specifications
  • Good planning, organisation and communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team, enthusiastic, willing and goal orientated
  • Share knowledge and skills whilst coaching and mentoring others
  • Anticipate problems and have a proactive approach to solving them
  • Basic computer skills - Microsoft packages e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, and Navision
  • Basic/intermediate food hygiene certificate
  • Understanding of B.R.C. and H.A.C.C.P. requirements
  • Understanding of H&S, Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures
