Seed Management Trainee
Located in the major seed potato growing area of the UK at Burrelton, near Perth in Scotland; we produce high quality Scottish and English seed to cater for every customer’s requirement. We are unique in having our very own dedicated seed sales team which has a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to the growing, storing and marketing of seed crops. Our thriving seed potato business retails over 25,000 tonnes each year to both UK and overseas potato growers. The Vacancy Location: Perthshire We are looking for a Seed Management Trainee to support and develop our seed business. This role will involve working with our Scottish seed supply base and customers, broadening your overall knowledge of the seed potato industry from minituber production through to sales to UK and Export customers.

- Salary: Negotiable + car allowance + bonus + benefits
- Hours of work: Full-Time, Monday to Friday
Main Responsibilities:
- Building a strong on-farm presence
- Working with our seed supply base
- Crop inspections, store sampling and contract negotiations
- Assisting the sales team, selecting seed stocks for UK and Export customers
- Overseeing quality and grading of seed stocks to ensure they meet customer specifications
- Assisting the technical team with crop improvement projects
- Servicing a well-established customer base whilst developing sales skills
- Helping with planting and harvesting of variety trials
Key Attributes:
- The ideal candidate will have experience working with potatoes or other field crops
- A knowledge of the farming community and a connection to rural affairs
- The ability to work within a large team and using initiative to work independently
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to effectively manage time and prioritise
- Good interpersonal skills
- Computer literate e.g. Microsoft Office, ERP systems
- Due to the nature of this role, a valid driving licence is required, with a willingness to travel
